You may notice that no cosmetics feature in this post. I can confirm that there has been no rushing out to purchase Color Craft.
I think it's fair to say that I am a little burnt out with the whole "make up hauling". I am sad that I can't really get excited about collections right now. When Color Craft came up on the MAC site I looked at it, then exited - and I haven't been back to look. I kind of miss that rush I used to get when I waited, with baited breath, to pick up the new things. I think easing off a while might help it return.
In the meantime...here are some bits and pieces that I am currently excited about:
Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds
I found this at a local market stall and got very excited! I remember seeing a video by Misschevious where she featured a product similar to this and it remained engrained in my memory
They are a pure novelty factor kind of item and I got both for £1 :)
I have to say though that these are composed of the cheapest and strongest chemicals known to man.
The primary ingredient is listed as Xylene - an obnoxious chemical that would no doubt get glue-sniffers excited - such is the strength of the fumes.
Could the reason these are not now sold in the UK be down to this? I am thinking "possibly".
LA Candy
You know the old adage of "don't judge a book by its cover"?
Well when it actually comes to buying books I live by the opposite rule. If the front cover artwork looks enticing then I will at least consider buying it.
I think this book possibly deserves the "Prettiest Front Cover" award.
Okay okay, this is probably the literary equivalent of chewing bubblegum and it doesn't quite sit alongside some of the more weighty tomes on my bookshelf but it looks sugary, light and fun and for that reason I am looking forward to indulging :)
Reiss "Kat" Skirt
I love Reiss. I think I would like to buy all my clothes from there. I like the fact that they have quite strong, simple pieces but that there is always a quirk in the detail to make it interesting. That's what I like.
I also love the Reiss sale. This Kat skirt was originally £110 but I got it for half.
I actually wore this out last night and forgot to do the whole OOTD photo procedure (Mental reminder: I need to do more of those)...so here is a quick 2D mock up of how it played out:
* GAP blazer (not current season)
* Cream Topshop sleeveless cotton top tucked into the skirt (current season)
* Accessorize knot necklace (current season)
* Reiss Kat Skirt
* Nine West platform heels (current season)
And this week's TK Maxx bargain?
I present a pair of Paper Denim & Cloth "Mod" jeans for £19.99. They fit brilliantly, are the perfect length and are from a brand that I have tried and loved before - although then I paid about £140.
I am one happy customer!
And before I go...
One other thing I got this week was the La Roux album from itunes...I love it! :)
Hope you all had a great Saturday - get ready for tomorrow's blog sale :) We are talking Chanel Universal, tons of MAC and a smattering of NARS :)

I love novelty items. I think I have a similar clear polish w/hearts. Too cute.
Love the color of the skirt. Paper denim are the best find though!
only you would get this many comments this late
I loved your post Laura. You are such an all rounder blogger which i love coz it keeps it interesting. I mean how much make up can one person own anyway unless the obsession is bordering on the lines of pathological :)
I too was unexcited with the current MAC collections. Ive only been building my collection for a year but everything is becoming too repetitive and IMO there are too many collections being released. Illamasqua on the other hand is a completely different story hehe. Take care luvvie xx
i love that both your choice in literature (book cover, really) & nail varnish are hearts :)
Love the outfit, that skirt is amazing! Love the color and the detailing! Haha I got rid of my bronze universal as well, it just didn't wow me! Oh well, at least we tried it out, right? :) Don't have to be curious about it anymore! xoxox
i love that gap blazer you have. it makes every outfit look so great!
So tempted to go out and purchase L.A. Candy...yep tomorrow Barnes and Noble here I come! It will be the perfect summer "fluff" read:)
Paper Denim & Cloth is such a great brand, thats a great steal :) I miss TK Maxx I got a pair of TR's there when I was on holiday for 30 pounds :) Looking fwd to your blog sale. I just created my own blog too! http://heatherbelle25.blogspot.com
Have you seen the golden "transparant" leaf necklace at Accessorize? realy fragile looking... I loooved it, but half the ones in de store broke, so fragile indeed :(
The diamonds are Hearts lol, I love that reminds me of valentines stuff, witch i Love.
:D i love your skirt! reiss do have some beautiful clothes, too expensive for me to shop there regularly :( and your nine west shoes!! <3 i love nude and platforms!!
Can't wait for the sale! :) Great blog, as per usual.
Love the Reiss skirt! I wish my TK Maxx had anything half decent in it :)
I love those wet shine diamonds- i'll have to try and get hold of some!
I need to buy La Candy but before I do that I need to earn some $$££!
Love your blog
xx
I have been loving La Roux recently too! 'Bulletproof' and 'In for the Kill' are on repeat for me! :)
You've also made me want to visit my TK Max, have a rummage and find some hidden gems!
xx
I really understand your lack of enthusiasm about new MAC collections. For a really long time they have looked pretty much the same to me - kind of bland and unimaginative and uninspiring, no looks that I couldn't do with what I already have. So, I think MAC needs to shape up!
i cant wait for the blog sale!!
We need pics of all these in action:) Especially those nail polishes, they look amazing. I haven't bought anything from Colour Craft either. I too have lost the excitement about new collections.
I'd really like to get Lauren Conrad's book, I'm just like you when it comes to choose a book by its cover :-) I also love La Roux new album, Bulletproof is amazing. Have you heard Imogen Heap's new song, First train home?
Can't wait for the sale! :p
i think the nail polishes a really cute!
I love the stuff you own from Gap! I keep going in there wanting to get a blazer but I see none... :(
Color Craft honestly does not excite me from what I have seen. I think there may be something wrong with me!
While the nail polish is very pretty I think the Xylene fumes are enough to make me not go seek it out.
That skirt is AMAZING and I love the outfit you put together with it. I love OOTD but laying them out on the bed is just as good :)
I love new music suggestions - searching for La Roux on itunes now!!
i just ordered LA Candy from Amazon, i only bought it purely because its written by Lauren Conrad....How sad! Great Post!
You will have to update us followers on LA Candy once you read it...I have really been wanting to read it.
I'm not excited about the new collection at all either.
Great outfit.xx
hey, where did you get LA Candy from? its not realeeased in the uk yet? x
Yeah, where did you get 'L.A. Candy' from - its not released until October in the UK and its 'unavailable' on Amazon! :( xoxo
