Making green eyes "pop"

I have to admit I hate that expression. The whole "popping" thing somehow makes me feel queasy - I must be made of a very delicate disposition. :)

However, I also admit that sometimes you just have to bring yourself to say it.

There definitely are certain colours that work for us and really bring out our natural eye colour.

For me - an owner of predominantly greeny-grey eyes - its those neutrals, golds and browns so today I looked into my pigment drawer and grabbed two Bare Minerals glimmers. First came Heart (left) and then came Sex Kitten (right).

I purchased Sex Kitten at the Sephora in Scottsdale last year. I was on holiday at the time and had visions of transforming into some sort of Bridget Bardot-a like.

Well anyway, that particular scenario didn't quite work out and for some reason I haven't touched it a whole lot since.

I feel ashamed about this because it really is the most gorgeous bronzed toned smokey brown, infused with gold. It's both neutral and wearable but can still give a really intense look - even when used dry. Best of all I really think it brings out the green tones in my eyes.

I added a little bit of Heart - a beautiful silvery pink toned glimmer - to the inner corner.

Its a lazy look with no eyeliner and just mascara but:

1) It's Sunday; and
2) Whatever!

:)

And maybe I haven't said this enough but I really appreciate any recommendations that you have so if you too are a fan of Bare Minerals Glimmer's fill me in with regards to your favourites :)

Hope you all have a great day!

I like loose shadows like the Bare Minerals ones because they are so easy to blend!!

You look amazing, and I agree with Zoella that your fringe looks awesome! :)

Yay for green eyes! I have green eyes too, so I am always after things to make them stand out more. I will be adding these two to my neverending list.

I have been told that NARS Cream Eyeshadow in Mykonos is great for green eyes (I love NARS cream eyeshadows for lazy days, haha).

Really like your fringe in this photo, You suit it swept to the side :) Loving the simple eyeshadow look too. Tbh i only ever opt for basic eyeshadow looks, but I'm not totally sure which eyeshadows work best with blue eyes? I tend to go for silvery greys but not sure of what others to try? Great Post x

lollipop26 said...

@Sarah - i love mykonos too :) a swipe of that with my finger on the lid and that's that :) super lazy ftw! :)

lollipop26 said...

@Kelly - you could definitely try golds....they are great with blue eyes. simple is the way forward :)

You always take beautiful photographs Laura! Your skin looks great here. If I may ask, what are you wearing on your lips? Thanks!

lollipop26 said...

@bubblegarm - i would definitely try and get a sample or two. they definitely have the most beautiful colours :)

lollipop26 said...

@Trisha - you may :) i mixed MAC's Shy Girl lipstick with a nude lip pencil by Inglot. x To be honest I wish I hadn't added the lip pencil as Shy Girl is fine all by itself :)

Little Miss Riya said...

wow! I love that look!

My whole life I've been told that to make green eyes pop one must wear purple shadow (I am NOT a fan of purple eyeshadow).

It's very nice to see that I can wear golds and neutrals instead :)

You look stunning in this picture and also your eyebrows are very nice shaped:).

I was wondering if you still use eyelashstimulators because i noticed that your lashes dont look very long anymore. Correct me if i am wrong.

Thanks for the answer.

I love bare minerals glimmer shadows!

I have :

Serene
Queen tiffany
nude beach
drama
heart

i love them all really but heart and queen tiffany are my favorite. I love how they give the 'foiling' effect; something i have yet to achieve with my MAC or NARS shadows. :P

You look gorgeous as always, love the hair!

I always forget about my bare mineral eye shadows - I have a rocker eye kit which is lovely for a very dark smoky rock chick eye... Just lolling at the connotations of making eyes "pop" - I say it myself even though it makes me cring inside a little bit! xxx

Valerie said...

1. you are super pretty laura.
2. did you get highlights?

chellee6 said...

you have such amazing eyelashes you don't even really need eyeliner!! i love gold/brown looks. I have hazel eyes and gold/copper/brown looks really bring out the green.

lollipop26 said...

@Valerie - no :) but i am so pleased you think so cos I have been thinking about getting them :) i just haven't dyed my hair for about 8 weeks.

lollipop26 said...

@VSpinkgirl - i need some recommendations then on a good purple because i have yet to find one that doesn't make me look tired :)

That eye look so good on you!! I also love BE glimmers, but I only have one and it's one of my all time fav e/s. Celestine, a beautiful silver taupe. When you apply it on the center of your lids, it's like having little diamonds on your eyes. Very pretty yet subtle. I'll have to check out the two glimmers you mentioned.
